Normally you'd cut windows out of a big round boule grown by HEM or Kyropoulos but the shape really isn't conducive to larger flat shapes
I don't even know why they were experimenting with this unusual crystal--it has a higher density

Weird Yb:YAG Garnet Facet Rough, Experiment Gone Wrong Type:Brown, 7.7g typically by soaking in aThis is facet rough of weird mutated Yb: YAG. We tried to have it grown, it usually comes out a vivid blue green, but this one went wrong in the process. It has a combination of browns, yellows, greens, and occasional blue, giving more of a pondwater set of colors instead of the typical deep aqua blue you get from Yb: YAG. Since this was done by accident we don't know if we'll have more, but the colors are neat!
